Abbreviations:
Yarn over hook – y.o.h
Chain – ch
1. Cluster stitch in Tunisian Crochet
Chains = Multiple of 4+1
For the sampler make (4 x 5 = 20) + 1 = 21 chains
Row 1: Insert the hook into the second ch from hook, y.o.h, draw loop through and leave on hook, * insert hook into the next ch, y.o.h, draw loop through and leave on hook; repeat from * to end of row – you should now have 21 loops on hook.
Row 2: y.o.h, draw loop through 2 loops, * 3 ch, y.o.h, draw through 5 loops; repeat from * until 4 loops remain, 3 chain, y.o.h, draw through the last 4 loops.
Row 3: 1 chain, skip first cluster * (insert hook into nest ch, y.o.h, draw loop through) 3 times, insert hook under the thread closing the next cluster, y.o.h, draw loop through; repeat from * to end of row – you should now have 21 loops on hook. Make sure you insert hook under the thread closing the half cluster at the end of row.
Row 4: y.o.h, draw through 2 loops, * 3 ch, y.o.h draw through 5 loops; repear from * until only 4 loops remain, 3 ch, y.o.h, draw through last 4 loops. Repeat rows 3 – 4 for pattern.
2. Eyelet Stitch in Tunisian crochet
Chains = Multiple of 2 + 1. For the sampler make (20 x 2) + 1 = 21 chains.
Row 1: y.o.h twice, insert hook into the third ch from hook, y.o.h and draw loop through, y.o.h draw loop through 2 loops, (you will now have 3 loops on hook), skip 1 ch, y.o.h. twice, insert hook into the next ch, y.o.h and draw through 2 loops; repeat from * to the end of row – you will now have 21 loops on hook.
Row 2: y.o.h, draw loop through the first stitch on hook, * y.o.h, draw loop through 2 loops; repeat from * until there is only one loop on hook.
Row 3: 2 ch, * y.o.h twice, insert hook into the vertical and the slightly diagonal loop made in the previous row, draw loop through, y.o.h, draw through 2 loops (-you will now have 3 loops on hook); repeat from * to end of row – you will now have 21 loops on hook.
Row 4: same as row 2 – the stitches taken onto the hook in row 3 are now worked off the hook. Repeat rows 3 and 4 for pattern.
