There are magazines for almost anything – homemaking, gardening, computers, cars – so why not one for crochet?
Crochet Fantasy used to be such a fantastic crochet magazine – the exotic collection of patterns they used to publish, is the stuff of fantasies to any crochet lover. Unfortunately, they have stopped publishing the magazine - its death has been truly mourned. The good news is – some of the back issues are available on e-bay.
Some of the other popular crochet magazines are
- Magic Crochet
- Quick and Easy Crochet
- Crochet
- Crochet world etc.
- Most of these magazines are published once in 2 months. It means a subscriber gets 6 issues a year.
- When you see the exotic crochet photographs, you wonder if you can really work out everything featured in the magazines.
- You can work most of the projects. Projects for all skill levels are almost always evenly distributed. So if 21 projects are featured in a magazine, 6 or 7 will be for the beginner, the same goes for intermediate and the experienced skill levels. More often than not, a beginner can even work the pattern meant for someone with intermediate skills in crochet.
- Crochet magazines publish all kinds of patterns – bibs, baby sets and baby accessories, lace edgings, doilies, coasters, runners, table cloth, bedspreads, cushion covers, crocheted flowers, appliqués, toys, floor rugs, scarves, shawls, dresses – you name it – they have it.
- Most crochet magazines encourage creativity in the reader. They welcome original patterns from the reader.
- Even if you know nothing about crochet but are very interested in learning – you can still buy a crochet magazine that captures your fancy – as all crochet magazines have a section on the basic stitches as a permanent feature.
- So just go out and buy that magazine, some yarn and a crochet hook and be prepared to get hooked!!!
